Youth Sunday School

New Youth Sunday School Classes start September 20th! Sunday school will have a different feel (as well as different names for the classes) this year. Below is a quick guide to what you can look forward to this coming school year.

Image class (6th and 7th grade) - “Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness.” - Genesis 1: 26.

They are called “Image” because this class will learn together about who they are – those made in God’s image! This class will be eligible for most youth group trips and activities, so keep your eyes peeled for all the youth group emails! Special events for this group include the Liturgy of Young Adulthood.

They meet during the 9 o'clock hour in the youth room under Taliaferro Hall.

Rock class (8th and 9th grade) - “And all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.” -I Corinthians 10:4

They are called “rock” because this class will learn together about where they stand – on the solid foundation of Jesus. They will learn more about their faith, as well as how that faith relates to the faiths of others. Special activities for this group include Urban Adventure and Pilgrimage.

The Rock Class meets for Sunday School during the 9 o'clock hour in the youth room under Taliaferro Hall.

Light class (10th - 11th grade) - “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden.” - Matthew 5: 14

They are called “light” because through their experiences in the “Image” and “Rock” classes – the Liturgy of Young Adulthood, Urban Adventure, Pilgrimage, Sunday school, serving in worship as acolytes, youth events, lock-ins, Happening, etc. - they are learning to shine as lights in the world. Special activities for this group include Confirmation.

The Light Class is currently meeting for Confirmation Class during the 9 o'clock hour on Sunday. We meet in the youth room under the cathedral offices, the "coffee shop."

Senior Class - the seniors are leaders in the youth group. They are able to assist in other youth Sunday school classes or other areas of church life.
